Mr. Martin does make a case, in comparison, between the Southerner who defended his beliefs and home, and that of the Middle Easterner claims to do the same. During the War Between the States, Southerners were labeled "Rebels", "Insurrectionists", and "Traitors", by the Federals (US Government). As such, this was the justification to invade, and wage war against the South. There is really no difference today with the US Government labeling those who oppose US interference and invasion of their homes, as "Terrorists." The British did the same to the Irish, whom they invaded and waged war against. It's "demonizing" the opposition in order to gain support for executing adverse action against another. Age old tactic. As for Mr. Martin's modern day comparison of Confederate soldiers, to Middle Eastern "Terrorists" ? Ignorant. There is no modern day application of "terrorist" that can be applied to Confederate soldiers. This ignorant attempt to equate the two, is merely trouble making and race baiting. If he can succeed in planting a seed of hostility in the minds of people, he can expand upon it with further race baiting. This is a very foolish game to play. The nation is divided enough as it is. A continuous bombardment of "shaming", race baiting, and trouble making, can get out of control very quickly. So, if it's not intended to ignite that already smoldering powder keg...I would strongly urge Mr. Martin, and those who find his sort of bantering acceptable, to consider reigning in this sort of swill. It can easily blow up in one's face. Behave Mr. Martin.

The shame in this is HOW this priest behaved on that public beach; not even that he left the church for "love" or to marry a divorced woman. Just take a look at the pictures that ousted him with the church. They are messy, even for a married couple on a public beach. Dude has his hand down her swimsuit and she's busting out of it without his assistance. I'm not catholic, and still I wouldn't want my religious leader and his WIFE on a public beach making a scene with PDA like that! SMH!
What happened to "lawful" but not "expedient" as Paul told the church of Corinth? What happened to "be ye holy, for I am holy"?
The Catholic church has so many rules, people forget to follow the rules in the actual Bible. Thank God for grace, but let's not abuse it and make light of our sins.

My mom always says, that which is done in darkness will come to the light and it's what you do in the dark -- when you think no one is watching -- that reveals your true character. Hopefully, this story will bring more people to respect the faith instead of those that purport to uphold it. It's nice Cutie wrote a book, but I'm still stuck on a 66-book bestseller. If more people privately stayed in the Bible, fewer people would fall publicly as this priest did.

Falsely invoking racism, as with
the Duane Buck case, is just another example of how death penalty opponents will
apply any deception, no matter how vile, to achieve their ends (1).

The problem for Buck and his supporters is that Dr. Quijano's entire
testimony, with regard to Buck, specifically, was that Buck was at reduced risk
of being a future danger, the opposite of the death penalty opponents claims. No
surprise.

From US Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor's dissent, IN FAVOR
OF BUCK: “In this case, first on direct examination by the defense, Dr. Quijano
merely identified race as one statistical factor and pointed out that
African-Americans were over represented in the criminal justice system; he did
not state a causal relationship, nor did he link this statistic to Buck as an
individual”

In fact, the opposite
occurred. Dr. Quijano's testimony was about Buck's reduced risk of future
danger.

The alleged racist component from the trial never
existed.

Sotomayor attempted to
create a racism based claim, by taking a prosecutor's inference out of context,
an inference which never stated that Buck was at future danger based upon race,
as Dr. Quijano stated that Buck was at reduced risk of re offending and never
stated that Buck had an elevated risk because of race.

"Moreover, the
prosecutor did not revisit the race-related testimony in closing or ask the jury
to find future dangerousness based on Buck’s race." (2).

Even Texas Court Of
Criminal Appeals (TCCA) Justice Alcala (3) , who dissented, IN FAVOR OF Buck,
recognized Sotomayor's obvious error:

Alcala writes: "As to (Buck's)
second claim (based upon racism) , I conclude that (Buck) has failed to make out
a prima facie case for discriminatory intent in the prosecution's decision to
seek the death penalty in his case." (3). "intent".

Alcala thought this
such a minor issue that she didn't even bother to respond to the claim in the
body of her opinion, but only in a footnote (3).

That is how untruthful Buck supporters have been.

Death Penalty opponents fabricated a dishonest claim of racism. Despicable
but nothing new (1, 5 & 6).
